demo by gareth simpsonGareth demonstrated turning a goblet from Black Walnut. Prior to the demo he turned the blank to a cylinder and added a tenon. He mounted the blank and first used a round nosed scraper to hollow the bowl of the goblet. From there he used a bowl gouge and spindel gouge to shape the outside of the bowl and turn the stem, then a parting tool to cut the piece off from the base of the blank. More of gareth's work ...

Demo by Kelvin BurtonKelvin demonstrated the use of a Bowl Saver / Coring System to obtain more than one bowl or platter from a single blank. He used the Woodcut Max 3 system that has 3 different sized cutting knives. He had two blanks that had previously been roughed out and had a tenon turned on the base of each. Demo by Peter LynnPeter showed us his approach to Green Wood preparation, cutting of blanks and wet turning of blanks prior to putting asside to dry and subsequently 2nd turning to finished.
